Paint the Town Green for day and night ambience at the Good Wine Shop

Although we have been doing this for a while now, we still get excited when we get to see completed projects that have used our paint. Most recently, The Good Wine Shop in Kew has been painted wall to ceiling in Grey Seal, a warm versatile grey, infused with hints of brown and purple.

It was Debbie at the Decorcafe network who introduced experienced visual merchandiser and Interior Designer Nikki Rees to the Good Wine Shop. They needed help to improve the interior of their Kew store in readiness for a new hybrid wine shop and bar venture. Still a wine shop, Nikki was tasked with reconfiguring the space to also allow customers to drink wine by the glass and accommodate wine tasting events to champion the independent, family-owned wineries the company endorse.

Nikki’s challenge was to create an environment that reflected the company’s branding. She reinvigorated the space using colour, furniture, graphics and visual merchandising. Grey Seal was an obvious choice for Nikki who wanted to create a warm, friendly space. A fan already of Paint the Town Green colours and its eco-friendly values, she knew immediately she wanted to use our paint when she was invited to be part of this project. She felt the joining up of ‘two lovely family-owned local businesses’ in this way was the perfect collaboration. So, armed with her Paint the Town Green swatch, they shortlisted and tested the colours first. As the Good Wine Shop is open through to the evening, it was important the colour worked both day and night in the differing lights.

Leaving the tester swatches up for a few days to allow their regular customers a say also, Grey Seal was eventually decided upon and everyone is thrilled with the end result. The walls, ceilings and woodwork were all painted in the same colour to make the space look larger and softer. Choosing a wipeable emulsion finish, an ideal finish for a busy interior, Nikki says:

“The Grey Seal colour makes the interior stand out with its subtle, warm shade providing a perfect backdrop to the wine bottles. I love that Paint the Town Green paint is better for environment but is still a quality, durable paint with fantastic colours.”

Nikki says it was a delight to be invited to their first wine tasting event and see the space come to life. She was proud to see customers sitting on the new reclaimed chunky oak furniture by RCC furniture enjoying a glass of wine with friends. With Grey Seal helping to create a warm and friendly environment, the real sense of local community was evident. To this, we say happily ‘Cheers and chin chin!’.
